
Jessica Michelle Chastain, born on the 24th of March, 1977, is an American actress. She is well-known for her performances in films with female-centric themes. She has won numerous awards which include an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 people in the world in 2012. Chastain developed an interest in acting as a child and made her professional stage debut in 1998 when she played Shakespeare's Juliet. After attending the Juilliard School, she was awarded a talent-holding agreement with television producer John Wells. She was frequently a guest on various television shows, as well as a number of roles in stage productions. Chastain made her debut film in Jolene (2008) aged 31. She continued to release six films in 2011 including The Tree of Life (2011) and Take Shelter (2011).
